Grateful
01:54
|
|||
He was spotted at the end of his rope
He looked forward to love and being woke
Something changed him
Something made him
Believe
He was grateful
He was grateful
He was grateful
Grateful as he should be
He was grateful
He was grateful
He was grateful
Grateful as he could be
There was a time when things were wrong
When things hadn’t gone very good
Something changed him
Something made him
Believe
He was grateful
He was grateful
He was grateful
Grateful as he should be
He was grateful
He was grateful
He was grateful
Grateful as he could be
BREAK
He was grateful
He was grateful
He was grateful
Grateful as he should be
He was grateful
He was grateful
He was grateful
Grateful as he could be

I tell you this emphatically today
I believe but I don’t know what I believe per se
It’s so difficult to pin down exactly what I’m for
And, that’s just the way it is
When push comes to shove
I’ve decided that I am neutral
As neutral can be
But, when I’m all alone
The rejection of God feels like cruelty
What do I stand for - if this is it?
I stand for compassion, love, and a deity who’s fit
The problems I’ve encountered since the beginning of Trump
Are how his following resembles a cult
I’m just not good with mixing politics and religion
I’ll take my private thoughts and share them
Because I know I’m not alone
With religion
BREAK
I’m just not good with mixing politics and religion
I’ll take my private thoughts and share them
Because I know I’m not alone
With religion

Beside You
01:46
|
|||
There is no trying
When you’re facing your mind
There is no lying
When you’re doing it right
There’s only sincerity
In how you behave
There’s only good reasons
For why you believe
I walk beside you
Some might say
I don’t walk behind you
For that isn’t the way
I walk beside you
Instead of in front of you
Life is much smoother
Walking beside you
BREAK
There are no judgments of what others might do
We’re all on our own paths
And this is 100% true
It’s not that I don’t care about them
It’s more like it’s none of my business
If someone shares a story or two
Leading me to believe in you
Then my life is much better
For I cared enough to know
I walk beside you
Some might say
I don’t walk behind you
For that isn’t the way
I walk beside you
Instead of in front of you
Life is much smoother
Walking beside you
I walk beside you
Some might say
I don’t walk behind you
For that isn’t the way
I walk beside you
Instead of in front of you
Life is much smoother
Walking beside you

Small Towns
02:40
|
|||
When I lie awake at night
And I’m told to count sheep
When I’m not often reminded
That the story is make believe
When I can’t get myself to settle down
And there’s just no relief
When my thoughts roam to the point that
I do not get my sleep
When you finally leave them
Then you finally see
Some are glad to be out of there
Can cause so much grief
Inexpensive love affairs
Not that many will see
That the biggest upside
Are your memories
BREAK
When the end of the world is happening
And there’s only those who believe
You’ll see the strong and the silent
Praying thankfully on their knees
When the politics of Jesus
Are revered and kept near
You’ll know you’ve come to the right place
Because he is what is clear
When you finally leave them
Then you finally see
Some are glad to be out of there
Can cause so much grief
Inexpensive love affairs
Not that many will see
That the biggest upside
Are your memories

Diversity
01:52
|
|||
Just because
We have different ideologies
It doesn’t mean
We can’t be friends
Sitting here
Wondering, waiting
Hoping that you get the message
I think diversity
Is a good thing
So please, open up your mind
As I open up mine
BREAK
And when there’s a difference
In opinion
We can both strive to
Understand the other
Sitting here
Wondering, waiting
Hoping that you get the message
I think diversity
Is a good thing
So please, open up your mind
As I open up mine

Examples Of Hope
01:36
|
|||
When she’s faced with retreating
Because of all she’s been through
When she’s known for believing
Due to what she’s seen
There is no other way
Than to say our love is guided
We must love for today to the end of our lives
She has no relief
At the site of speaking to me
She cannot conceive
Of all the things I’m saying
BREAK
I want to believe
In the things in front of me
But all I can see
Are examples of hope
When I try to retreat
Into the life I’ve always known
I have the key
To break myself free

A Life He Was Proud Of
02:25
|
|||
Coming off a night without much sleep
He knew he had to get more rest
But duty called on this day
With responsibilities that put him to the test
He was an average man
Middle aged and with half a plan
He looked up to the heavens
To the skies above, the universe at large
Knowing full well this was not an easy life
Looking up was where he found the strength
No, he didn’t ask to be born
But he sure didn’t want to die today
You see, life in all its happiness and grief
Was all he knew but not all he believed in
He believed in something more
It was this belief that got him through life’s challenges
Knowing that one day it would all be over
But, not before he did all he could to live a life he was proud of
BREAK
It was this belief that got him through life’s challenges
Knowing that one day it would all be over
But, not before he did all he could to live a life he was proud of

Waiting For You
02:55
|
|||
He was alone
He had said goodbye
To a girl he loved
Who made him cry
He couldn’t take it
It wasn’t easy for him
She wanted nothing more
Than to use him
Things change and people grow
No matter what
You really should know
That in the end there’s a place called love
You may not get there, but it’ll be waiting for you
She took a chance
And had a one night stand
She took to him
Like he was her man
And when the day broke
She was still with him
Even though he had tried his best
To lose her
BREAK
Things change and people grow
No matter what
You really should know
That in the end there’s a place called love
You may not get there, but it’ll be waiting for you
With mounting struggles
That took him down
On bended knees
He cried out
He wanted something
To have a chance
No bitter love
No sweet romance
Things change and people grow
No matter what
You really should know
That in the end there’s a place called love
You may not get there, but it’ll be waiting for you

She Said
01:45
|
|||
When she realized
There was truth
Behind the lies
She made it a point
To never cry
Over him again
There just wasn’t a simple fix
To the misery and pain she hid
There just wasn’t an easy way
To begin life again
She had done it on several tries
Every time she said goodbye
He would put up another fight
And she’d cry with him
What has the world come to
When you can’t love just one?
Who is always there for you
Too many women she said
BREAK
What has his life become
When he can’t even stop to see
The love he has waiting
In his hands?
What has his life become
When he can’t even stop to see
The love he has waiting
In his hands?

Cahoots
01:32
|
|||
What someone has as a personal belief system
Is of little importance to me
What I care about is how that person treats me
And those around them
You can do many things with a carved out belief system
No matter what that system may be
You can reach your goals
Knowing it’s destiny
Remember that it’s the individual
Who matters
It’s the individual who sacrifices
Sometimes it’s for themselves, their loved ones, or a group
Yes, we’re all in cahoots together
We may have mental health issues
And do what it is we do
Whatever that may be
Keep on
BREAK
Yes, we’re all in cahoots together
We may have mental health issues
And do what it is we do
Whatever that may be
Keep on

Happiness As A Choice
02:06
|
|||
Immersing myself in good
Is a constant reminder
Of where I want to be every day
It’s a continual renewal of my energy
I will sleep 7 hours any how
Nap as I can
Drink plenty of fluids
Most of them caffeinated
And get some exercise
I will keep so involved
That I don’t think about eating
This is key for several reasons
One of them being
I want to be at a healthy weight
BREAK
I want to try to live
Even though that seems to often escape me
I want to get out of the house and do what it is I do
With a breath of fresh air
Think of the destination
Knowing it may not be easily reachable
I know that some journeys are
Worth departing on
Thank you God
Even though I don’t really know who you are
Thank you for the strength
I am in wonder
I can’t do all of this alone
Surrendering my trauma
Just for today
Tabling my anxiety and depression
Just for awhile
Knowing I can manage
Knowing whatever I need to do
Can be done
Thank you
Thank you
Thank you

My Life
01:52
|
|||
Surrendering to what I can’t know
Helps me and makes me want to grow
More throughout my life
My life is a gift and I will treat it as such
The day to day routine may all but break me sometimes
The schedule and to do list may challenge me to my core
But, I will survive
I will thrive
I will do all I can
To make things better
To be my best
BREAK
So I have a choice
Disillusionment or not
Within this realm
My life will one day be naught
My life will one day be gone
So I have a choice
Disillusionment or not
Within this realm
My life will one day be naught
My life will one day be gone
